Self Storage Tips for Smaller Items

• Create an inventory list of all items.
• Select uniformed sized boxes for smaller items for better stacking.
• Place the heaviest items on the bottom of the box first. 
• Use protective fillers (foam, bubble wrap, peanuts) to protect your valuables.

• Keep an up to date record of your items. There are several ways you can keep record ... either label the boxes by number and have a separate listing identifying the contents of the box; or write on the box the contents inside.

Self Storage Tips for Larger Items

• Mattresses: Use plastic covers to protect from dust and moisture.

• Leather Items: Treat leather with leather conditioner before storing.

• Furniture: Keep furniture off the floor by using pallets.

• Lawn Mowers and All Terrain Vehicles: Drain the gasoline and oil from small engines.

• Appliances: Clean and dry out all appliances prior to placing in storage and ajar door to allow proper ventilation. 

Organizing your Storage Unit

• Always stack the boxes with the heaviest box on the bottom first.
• Place items you will not use as often towards the back of the room.
• If you are storing items that are too big to be placed in a box, use plastic sheeting for protection.
• Allow a half an inch of airspace between the wall and your boxes for ventilation.
